In the age of everyone expanding the boundaries of Country music, Johnny Reid has done just that with 'Kicking Stones'. It's a perfect mix between jazz, classic soul and country, you'll hear alot of horns throughout the album. 1st single was 'Love Sweet Love', a good up tempo love song, 2nd single 'Kicking Stones' delves deeper into Reid's feelings and you can hear it all over this song right from the beginning with the bag pipes opening the song. This album has hits from cover to cover as Johnny pours his heart out about his family, love and home, you get to hear his Scottish accent come out more in this album.
'Thank You' are two simple words and Johnny turns them into the most romantic gesture as he sings about recognizing all the things his love one has done in their lives. This is a great song for renewing your vowes or an anniversary. With a harmonica solo 'Darlin' ' picks up the pace as it takes you through thinking of your love ones when you're not at home. 'What Kind of Lonely' slows down with Johnny's voice with an accoustic guitar in the fore front as he tugs at your heart strings.
'Kicking Stones' is an album about being Thankful of what you had, living through good times and bad and always knowing the road to get back home.
