SongDoor International Songwriting Competition

ENTRY DEADLINE: November 15, 2007

About performance: It truly does not matter if you are a good singer or not. It truly does not matter if you have state-of-the-art recording equipment or not. This is a songwriting competition, and it is the song that will be judged, not the performance or the production.

Capitol Nashville, Yahoo! Partner For Talent Search
April 03, 2007

By Ken Tucker, Nashville

Capitol Records Nashville has partnered with Yahoo!'s online contest site
Bix to launch a country music talent search contest. The contest, "The Road to Nashville," gives aspiring country singers the chance to become the label's next big country star by auditioning online at bix.yahoo.com/theroadtonashville.

The winner of the online audio and video karaoke contest will receive $50,000 and a trip to Nashville to record three demos and experience in-studio time with Capitol executives.

Contestants will be judged by online voting during the first two rounds of the contest. For the last round, 10 finalists will be flown to Nashville in August for their final audition, which will be taped live in front of a panel of judges, including Capitol artist Jamie O'Neal. The judges will choose a grand prize winner.
